In een Ode aan Bram Bogart eer ik het grote gebaar in de (textiel) kunst. Textiel is van huis uit verfijnd en subtiel. De respectvolle benadering van de materie staat voorop. Deze verfijnde staat doorbreek ik met mijn serie knopen. Ik wil ruimte geven aan het grote gebaar, net zoals kunstenaar Bram Bogart ooit deed. Het lijkt ook een zelfportret te zijn, want vaak ervaar ik knopen als een innerlijk proces. Ik knoop en ontknoop, steeds maar weer totdat er een nieuwe orde ontstaat. Verbindingen maken, controle houden, sturen en loslaten. Zoals de schilder zijn kwast en spatel gebruikt als gereedschap, neem ik de schaar ter hand om me te bevrijden van te vaste materie.

A Tribute to Bram Bogart is a series of knots in which I honor the grand gesture in (textile) arts. Textiles are known for their refinement, the touch and feel of a subtle use of materials. In my series I want to break the rules, give space and exploit the grand gesture, just as painter Bram Bogart did in his work. It also appears as a self portrait. Knots as an inner state, knotting and untying matter, until a new order arises. Making connections, keeping control, guiding and letting go. Just as a painter's brush and spatula are tools, I use my scissors to free myself from solid matter.
